Crocheting at Disneyland

Crocheting in line at Disneyland! Love this!

yochet

After a hiatus from Disneyland, we have once again purchased passes. It’s been a few years but we can return to the magical kingdom and it’s overcrowded premises any time we want (blackouts and restrictions apply 😜). But I’m not complaining (maybe just a little) because we knew what to expect and got passes anyway. Having passes makes it easier to strategically plan our visits. We don’t have little kids to worry about anymore so we can be stealthy and hit just the rides we want to get on and then skedaddle.

Which is exactly what we did on Sunday. We wanted to ride the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride (formerly the Tower of Terror) but the wait times have consistently been over three hours! So we planned our sneak attack. We would get up really really early and get there before the line grew too long. We did…

Today on my spindle…

I usually make about rolags and punis as an alternative to knitting and crocheting.

Or will be shortly…

First time attempting to create rolags with hand cards! This is #20 or so and they are finally starting to look a little better. The plan is to spin them with my spindles during the TDF.

Lace and Stars

Samples are a good way to use up scrap yarn as well as to practice certain patterns before making it into a project.

Felting and Fiber Studio

After trying a few lace crochet samples, I finally graduated from making crochet samples to actually making things.  But first the lace.  This lilac one is Marielle lace which would be ideal for an airy scarf.

The Duchess lace is a little denser and looks slightly different on each side.

The Picot Trellis lace is a more traditional pattern made with cotton thread instead of yarn.  This was challenging from the standpoint of using a much smaller hook which my joints weren’t really happy about.

The Star stitch was the basis of making a crochet hook case. You can clearly see on one side the holes in the stars.

The second side is where the hooks are inserted.

Unfortunately, my new ergonomic hooks didn’t fit.  But it does make a nice roll or it can be folded over to lay flat.

Finished with a chain tie.

I was a little bummed…

Blurre Shawl

I have seen these shawls before and I really want to make one after seeing this one.❤️

Emma's Craft Projects

Happy Friday!

I have finished it!!! I’m so so excited about this shawl, and it’s been finished just in time to enter into Deanne CAL (finishing today, mind you!) 😊

Anyway I’ve already rambled a lot about how much I love this shawl, so without further ado here are some pictures.

I love the colours I’ve chosen so much! My favourite part in probably in the middle, the variegated yarn kind of looks like a leopard print 😊

I’m probably going to wear this shawl a lot, I’m planning on making a second one as well once I have a bit more sock yarn minis! Have a great weekend!

Red and Black Crochet Puppet

yochet

I handed over my finished puppet to her new 5th grade owner after a day of celebrating our 5th graders. I said a few words about how much I will miss them, because I will. Two of them have been with me since kindergarten. That’s six years with the same students. It’s always bitter sweet to see them go, knowing most of them will disappear without a trace as they move on to middle school. Sometimes, they come back to visit or I run in to them when I’m out and about, but for the most part, on the last day, they’re just gone. I give them a big hug on their way out the door and wish them well.

So I said a few words, said my farewells, handed them their crocheted graduation caps and we partied with cake, pizza and a movie.

I finished the puppet and handed her…
